In this post we’ll review the top 10 headsets for gaming in 2011 from trusted brands like Logitech, Razer, Tritton and others. Most gamers realize that an important part of their game is to have a machine that can perform flawlessly in any real-time game situation. A gaming PC that lags or doesn’t perform properly can surely leave you dead on the battlefield.
On the contrary we’ve all ran across that “friend” who has the cheap headphones that crackle, go in and out at times, and are either too loud when they are close to the microphone or too soft when they are away from it. This poses a problem to your team’s play especially in intense situations.
Another important reason to have a decent gaming pc headset is that more advanced games are providing subtle sounds that both improve your overall gaming experience as well as help you know where enemies are that you might not have known about otherwise. I’ve especially noticed this in first-person shooters when someone is trying to come behind me and get a quick knife in.
Top 10 Best Gaming Headsets 2011
1.) Ear Force X11 Amplified Stereo Headset
If you’ve got a budget of around 50 bucks, then I strongly recommend the Ear Force X11 or the new X12. You get oversized ear cups with incredible base and stereo sound. The Microphone also prevents volume spikes that can get annoying after time. You can see a review of the x12 on this post about the best pc gaming headsets.
2.) Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 with 7.1 Surround Sound
This is the gaming headset that I currently own and I love it. It has 7.1 surround sound that put simply will “blow your mind”. On Battlefield Bad Company 2 I actually noticed that my kills and overall points increased after getting this so it’s been well worth the investment. It also has some cool features like the ability to morph/change your voice to various critters and software that comes with it that is fun to tinker with.
3.) Logitech Headset G330
If you simply don’t have the cash, then at least you can have a decent headset.
Perfect for gamers on a budget, the G330 is an inexpensive alternative to a high-end headset. While the sound won’t be perfect and it won’t last forever it will still keep you in the game.
4.) Yapster Universal PC/Stereo Headphones
This is a great headphone for the price and one of the features I like is how easy it is to swivel the microphone out of your face for times when you don’t feel like talking.

5.) Razer Carcharias Gaming Headset
Razer doesn’t just make an awesome gaming mouse they make an awesome headset. The Carcharias comes with a noise cancelling headphone that allows your voice to be the prime target while you’re talking rather than all of the background noise around you,
6.) Tritton AX Pro Dolby Digital Precision Headset
The Tritton gives you an unprecendented level of precision by combining 8 speakers in its large ear cups with 5.1 surround sound. While this is a great headset I still prefer the G930 at this price range.
7.) Logitech G35 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Headset
The G35 gives you a detailed soundfield with 7.1 surround sound Dolby technology allowing you to hear others before they hear you. You get three easily customizable G-keys that give you one touch command over the music, voice morphing, and other fun options that Logitech’s included. Logitech has also placed convenient muting, volume, and surround sound adjustment buttons on the headset itself. Like other high-end headsets the G35 also has a noise cancellation feature that allows the microphone to focus on your voice rather than what’s on the background.
8.) Tritton TRIAX-720 AX 720
The Tritton gives you quality Dolby Digital Surround sound with easy to replace ear pieces that will allow you to use it for an extended period of time without discomfort. It’s universal so you can use it with your PS3 and other console devices as well.
9.) PS3 Ear Force P11 Amplified Stereo Gaming Headset
We personally prefer the Ear Force X11 at this price but this is a solid alternative option.

10.) Razer Megalodon 7.1 USB Gaming Headphones
Another great 7.1 option the Razer Megalodon gives you incredible digital sound for awesome clarity while you are playing.
